THIS PLACE IS SHAPED BY NATURE. AND THE WAY WE WERE ALWAYS MEANT TO LIVE.

THE ART OF BELONGING

Co-founders Jay McPhee and Jonathan Grasso first met on Monaco Street, drawn together by a shared belief: that homes should hold meaning. That they should be built not for a moment, but for a lifetime, and the lifetimes that follow.

NALU is the embodiment of that belief. It resides on a site with its own gentle history, first developed in the late 1960s, and reimagined as ‘NALU’ in 2018. NALU, the Hawaiian word for Wave, has always carried a sense of flow and belonging. Now, under Monaco’s care, it’s being shaped with the depth and integrity it was always meant to hold. Jay and Jonathan have become its guardians, honouring what was, and shaping what will endure.

THE GENERATIONAL VALUE IS SIMPLE. IT CAN NEVER BE BUILT OUT, BUILT OVER OR REPLICATED.

JONATHAN GRASSO, JAY MCPHEE

DIRECTORS, MONACO PROPERTY GROUP

Monaco Property Group is driven by a belief that property should extend beyond its built form to shape the way people live, feel and connect. With a commitment to boutique, design-led residences, the group focuses on creating homes that are enduring, intentional and deeply considered. At NALU, the vision was to craft a sanctuary intrinsically connected to its environment, respectful of the landscape, guided by natural forms and designed to elevate everyday living.

Every decision, from architecture to amenity, reflects a careful balance between luxury and nature, privacy and community, performance and wellbeing. Led by directors Jay McPhee and Jonathan Grasso, Monaco approaches each development as a legacy project, resulting in a residence that is thoughtful, refined and grounded in a long-term vision.

there’s a tension between movement and stillness – the raw energy of the ocean to the east and the permanent stillness of the headland to the west.

director, bda architecture

BDA Architecture is renowned for creating work that is both distinctive and deeply contextual, responding thoughtfully to place, climate and community. For NALU, this approach, led by Darren Greenaway, is expressed through an organic, undulating form that feels considered rather than imposed, soft, fluid and human-centred in its design.

Every curve, material and proportion has been carefully resolved to enhance its coastal surroundings, resulting in a residence that feels natural yet refined, contemporary yet timeless, and grounded in a deep respect for context and craft.

NALU IS A FOREVER HOME FOR FUTURE RESIDENTS. WE DIDN’T FOCUS ON TRENDS. WE WANTED TO ENSURE THIS WAS A SPACE THAT COULD STAND THE TEST OF TIME.

JADE NOTTAGE

DIRECTOR, TOM MARK HENRY

Tom Mark Henry is an award-winning Australian design studio celebrated for interiors that are layered, tactile and deeply emotive. Known for balancing materiality with mood, the studio creates spaces that feel both elevated and inherently liveable.

At NALU, director Jade Nottage approached the interiors as an extension of the landscape, drawing on natural textures, soft forms and a restrained coastal palette to create a sense of calm and continuity. Every finish, fixture and detail has been carefully considered to enhance light, space and flow, resulting in an interior experience that is warm, immersive and enduring, designed to be both admired and lived in every day.

THE RESULT IS AN ENVIRONMENT THAT IS IMMERSIVE, ELEGANT,AND ENDURING – WHERE EACH COURTYARD, PATHWAY, AND GARDEN BECOMES A LIVING PART OF THE NALU EXPERIENCE.

THOMAS SCHUBEL

DIRECTOR, LDG LANDSCAPE

Every step at NALU has been considered, curated and shaped by LDG Landscape, an award-winning practice known for creating outdoor environments that feel alive, purposeful and restorative. Their approach transforms space into experience, where movement, viewlines and planting work in harmony with architecture and lifestyle.

At NALU, LDG has crafted lush, structured tropical gardens that integrate seamlessly with the building’s organic forms, using feature palms and sculpted greenery as focal points, while layered planting introduces rhythm, texture and calm. The result is an immersive and enduring landscape where each courtyard, pathway and garden becomes an integral part of the NALU experience.

Never to be repeated.
